Mindful with Diabetes Series: #1 Emergency Kit

What can go wrong will go wrong when you have diabetes. I am not saying this to be negative. It is simply a fact of the matter. That is why it is extra important if you or someone that you love has diabetes that they are always prepared for an emergency. Here are the top 5 things that I keep in my purse or bring with me in a day pack. THIS IS NOT FOR MORE THAN A DAY TRIP so I am keeping in mind what is ESSENTIAL.
This active planning is considered a yoga practice because it is helping you to avoid all future suffering. If you are prepared for future problems, you can relax and enjoy the moment that you are in! That is what life is about.

I bring Smarties and a few almonds, extra syringes (MDI), glucometer, Libre reader and a gentle acceptance that things may not be "normal" every day.

I have a bag which has a full set change, alcohol wipes, batteries, insulin. Skin tac. Pretty little Le Sport sac bag with a lot of flowers. My previous one had hearts but was too big and got clutter with non-diabetic items.

Skittles and Starbursts. I buy in pre-packages. They taste good!

If I ski or travel--I add my meter and also some long lasting insulin in case I have an issue. Also at times, I might add a protein bar.

The video wouldn’t download and I’d live to hear what you bring along “just in case”
I’ve always got glucose tabs and life savers! They stay stable in the Florida heat. If I know I’m going to be out through lunch I pack a small cooler with extra water, cheese, an apple and
Maybe a protein bar.
Traveling far from home extra insulin, syringes, extra glucose monitoring supplies, and the direct line to my Medtronic rep.
