The Complete Practice with Evan Soroka

Wednesdays - 4:30p MST on Zoom

According to yogic tradition, a complete practice is comprised of asana (postures), pranayama (breathwork), and dhyanam (meditation) to achieve greater health, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment. Yoga without self-reflection is not Yoga.

The Complete Practice
intelligently designs Yoga sadhana for the modern-practitioner to accelerate inner experiences without losing sight of Yoga's original purpose.

Under the careful guidance of Evan Soroka (CIAYT, ERYT 500), each week focus on yogic themes informed by yogic philosophy, science, Ayurveda, yoga therapy, and tantra.

The Complete Practice is for all with some experience with yoga and breathwork. Classes are recorded live and available for download up to 7 days.

For the next three weeks, the Complete Practice is dedicated to building ojas, the life nectar. For close to 5000 years, Ayurvedic doctors and yogis knew that health and resilience was associated with one thing: ojas.

Ojas is the essential energy of the immune system. Literally defined as '
vigor,' ojas is the vital energy that sustains the body's health.

Each week we'll dive into a new element of building your ojas.
Week 1 - Soothe - Oct 21
Week 2 - Nourish - Oct 28
Week 3 - Assimilate - Nov 4
COST: $20/class or $50 series
LOCATION: ZOOM
TIME: 4:30-6:00p MST recorded + live

Classes can be taken separately but recommended as a series.
When ojas is plentiful, there is health. When it is low, there is disease."
David Frawley
What lowers ojas: negative emotions like anger, sorrow and fear, overwork and overexercise, stress, poor digestion, lack of sleep, too much time outdoors (yes), and excessive electronics. Fall is also the time of vata-dosha when the elemental force of air and space dry up ojas.

As a therapist who works with people with all types of chronic conditions, including anxiety and depression, I do not know a single person in this modern-age who is NOT ojas deficient.

Ojas is replenished through diet and energy conservation. A specialized diet may include nourishing warm foods, ghee, and herbs like ashwagandha.

Energy conservation is achieved with yoga practices like yoga nidra, specific breathing practices to not overstimulate, and mantra meditation to soothe and pacify the systems.
